Gentle Yoga Self-care Saturdays at Energy of Serenity with Reiki Master, Donna McDine

Gentle Yoga Self-care Saturdays at Energy of Serenity with Reiki Master, Donna McDine

Welcome to today’s edition of Self-Care Saturday’s at Energy of Serenity. Today I’m chatting about gentle yoga and how it has become a way of life for me.

To be quite honest with you I shied away from yoga for just about forever thinking with my chronic neck pain (which isn’t so chronic anymore) I didn’t think I was capable of partaking in yoga. Until the day, I was introduced to gentle yoga with Nicky Atanasio.

The form and approach to gentle yoga is not as intimidating as shall I say, regular yoga. For me this is true. Thankfully with my daily exercise routine of stretching for 10-15 minutes every morning and a daily walk of 2-3 miles my body and mind were prepared for the next time in elevating my self-care.

I was pleasantly surprised my body and mind welcomed gentle yoga to my exercise routine. Becoming attuned to my breath and how I can handle my body through positivity the results have been immense. Not only in strengthening my body but calming my mind as well.

What is Gentle Yoga:

“Gentle yoga is a style of yoga that is far less strenuous than other forms. It is less intense, so it can be very useful for people who are not capable of fulfilling the demands of other practices, such as seniors, women who are pregnant, practitioners who are recovering from injury, those who are in very poor physical condition, or even those who are simply looking for a more relaxed workout. This practice can also be beneficial to those who already are quite fit but who lack the overall flexibility to be able to do some of the more intense yoga poses.”

I implore you to look up local yoga studios in your area that offer gentle yoga and take the brave step in changing up your self-care routine on breath and one stretch at a time.

If you are local to Piermont, NY the Sacral Chakra Yoga for Charity event on Tuesday, March 10th at 7:30 pm at The Yoga House is a fabulous way to introduce you to gentle yoga with instructor, Nicky Atanasio.

Looking forward to attending with my lovely friend, Cynthia!

Wishing one and all a splendid day on this sunny and crisp NY day.

Namaste,
