Self-care Saturday and Continuing to Slay the Inner Naysayer at Energy of Serenity with Donna McDine, Reiki Master
Absolutely incredible how fast January 2020 sped along!
As busy as we are it’s imperative to your mind, body and soul to take the time out for self-care. Without doing so we will become depleted and most likely will not have the energy nor desire to achieve our dreams in creating our unique authentic life. Don’t allow the inner naysayer take over, with something along the lines of… “You have too much to do, your pampering can wait.” Actually, no, your self-care can’t wait. Make it a priority first thing every morning. It can be something as simple as a 10 minute guided meditation, 15 minute yoga or pilates stretch, etc.
Self-care definition: noun – the practice of taking actions to preserve or improve one’s own health.
To kick-off my weekend of self-care, I took the time out to rejuvenate my body with a deep tissue massage by Nicky Atanasio of Mahalo Moon.
Nicky and I first met two years ago at a spiritual retreat in Ramsey, NJ where Nicky offered up her expertise in massage and the importance of being kind to our bodies. I have always enjoyed massages and for one reason or another did not incorporate massage into my monthly self-care routine. I’m delighted to say that has changed since connecting with Nicky and massage therapy is now part of my monthly self-care. I have also enjoyed participating in her Gentle Yoga classes at the Yoga House in Piermont, NY. The breathwork that goes along with yoga is simply exhilarating.
The benefits of massage therapy: “Swedish massage increases vitality in the body and soothes the mind. It improves the functions of all systems in the body. It is greatly beneficial after a yoga or meditation session, but can also be a stand alone service.” ~ Mahalo Moon
Nicky offers much more beyond massage therapy and I highly recommend you visit her at Mahalo Moon to learn more about Nicky and her offerings.
As your family and friends see the benefits of your self-care routine it will surely inspire them to do the same.
For me, by making self-care a priority I’m calmer and when my daughters acknowledge this by saying, “Wow, mom! Just a few years ago you would have been freaking out by this incident.” This confirmation by my daughters makes my heart soar! For I too, have seen a difference in them as they make self-care important in their lives as well. A true ripple effect of positive change!
I’d enjoyed hearing about how you are setting the tone for your self-care and how it has created healthy living for you.
